Pregnancy brings a whole lot of change – not just to your body, but to your routines, your emotions, and yes, your sex life too.
For some couples, pregnancy brings a fun new spark. For others, it brings a total pause (and maybe a little panic). Wherever you’re at – it’s okay. You’re not doing it wrong.
Sex during pregnancy doesn’t have to disappear – but it might need to look different. So here are a few tips to help you stay connected (and even have some fun) while your belly grows and your body adjusts.
1. Comfort is king – and lube is your new BFF
Hormones are all over the place, and that can mean dryness even if you're feeling mentally aroused. A good-quality lube can make a huge difference – for both comfort and pleasure.
We recommend Evree's oil-based lube (use the coupon code KINGDOM for 10% off)– it’s gentle, long-lasting, and safe for sensitive skin.
Also? Don't be afraid to try new positions. What worked before might feel awkward now – and that's okay. Try side-lying or “spooning” styles that take pressure off your belly and back. You can visit Christian Friendly Sex Positions and filter positions that are pregnancy friendly. -
2. Talk it out – even if you feel awkward
It’s easy to feel disconnected when your body is changing and sex feels unfamiliar. But this is exactly when talking becomes even more important.
Ask each other:
– “What’s been feeling good or not-so-good lately?”
– “Would you feel up for trying something light and fun tonight?”
– “What kind of touch feels best right now?”
Not sure how to ask? Start with our Yes! No! Maybe? Checklist – it helps you explore what feels good (and what doesn’t) in a super low-pressure way.
3. Intimacy doesn’t have to mean intercourse
Let’s say it louder for the couples in the back – there are so many ways to be close besides intercourse.
Touch, kissing, massage, oral, mutual pleasure, snuggling naked – it all counts. Especially during pregnancy when energy, emotions, and sensations change daily.
Our HER TURN sex challenge is perfect during pregnancy. Every day includes options that don’t require penetration but still build intimacy, connection, and pleasure.
4. Give yourself (and each other) grace
You might cry in the middle of foreplay. Or fall asleep before you even get started. Or get distracted by a kick to the bladder mid-makeout. Welcome to pregnancy.
This season might require more communication. More patience. And more creativity. That’s not a failure – that’s intimacy in real life.
And if this season is all about surviving, not thriving – that’s okay too. Just keep showing up for each other in small ways.

FAQs
Is it safe to have sex while pregnant? Usually yes – but always check with your doctor or midwife first. If you’ve been cleared medically, go for it! Listen to your body and take your time.
What if I don’t feel sexy right now? Totally normal. Try shifting the focus to connection and comfort instead of pressure. A back rub, gentle kissing, or emotional closeness are great places to start.
What if my desire has completely disappeared? Hormonal changes can do that! Be kind to yourself, and try finding ways to connect that aren’t focused on arousal alone. HER TURN is great for this.
